About this file
The document is a Questions and Answers file for a Naval Supply Systems Command solicitation (N0018925Q0248) seeking a High Pressure Air Compressor (HPAC) for the USS BATAAN. The solicitation requires a single compressor with specific technical specifications: a final discharge pressure between 2700-3300 PSI, 19.8 SCFM output, air-cooled design, and a 75-foot hose capable of connecting to the ship's high-pressure air inlet. The compressor must provide redundant air supply capabilities when existing ship systems are unavailable, with a 59 HP electric motor operating at 440 volts AC. The procurement is structured as a firm-fixed-price purchase order for commercial items, classified under NAICS code 333912 with a small business size standard of 1000 employees. Delivery is expected 24 weeks after receipt of order (ARO) to the USS BATAAN in Norfolk, VA, with payment to be made via Government Purchase Card (GPC).

Question 1 What is the application of the subject requirement?
Answer: The application for the HPAC would be to provide HP air to the ship while support systems are unavailable, or if the HPACs onboard are down for maintenance. It increased the redundancy and self-sufficiency on Bataan and increases our ability to recharge SCBAs, charge air flasks for EDG's/Elevators, and provide back up to ships LP air system.
Question 2 Can you please clarify this portion of the request below? This compressor must have at least 19.8 cfm and not 22 cubic feet per hour?
Also, any voltage and amperage requirements for these compressors.
“The two permanent HPACs (High Pressure Air Compressor) onboard BATAAN produce a final pressure of 3000 PSI(pounds per square inch), each compressor requires a rated discharge capacity of 22 cubic feet per hour (CFH).
The compressor (QTY1) must have a combination of 2700-3300psi as a final discharge, a control system to start at appx. 2700 and shut off at appx. 3300, 19.8 SCFM (Standard Cubic Feet Per Minute), and must be air cooled.”
Answer: The requirement is for a method to program or control the compressor to have a final discharge pressure that is within our ship specifications of appx. 3000 psi. and a method for the HPAC to sense ships HP air pressure and automatically start and stop as needed to maintain the HP air pressure on the ship.
Question 3 Can you please get me horsepower and voltage ratings for this compressor.
Answer: The Horsepower of our installed HPAC's are 59 Horsepower electric motor, and 1 1/2 HP for the cooling pump motor. Voltages and Amps are listed below.
1-3.6 Main Drive Motor. A 59 HP, 440 volt AC, 78 FL Amp, 3 phase, 900 RPM electric motor drives the compressor.
1-3.7 Cooling Pump Motor. A 1-1/2 HP, 440 volt AC, 1.85 FL Amp, 3 phase, 3600 RPM motor is used to drive a gerotor oil pump and a centrifugal coolant pump.
Question 4 How much cfm output do you need. 19 cfm (cubic feet per minute) free air delivery or 22 cubic feet per hour.
Answer: See Question 2 for answer.
