About this file

The file is a Vendor Questions and Answers document for Solicitation N0018925Q0233, which involves the delivery and installation of workstations at the Washington Navy Yard for the Naval History and Heritage Command. The solicitation requires the remodeling of two spaces: one room needs five individual modular floor-to-ceiling wall spaces, while the second space requires removing five old cubicles and installing two new office modular floor-to-ceiling walled spaces.

Key details include a total small business set-aside requirement, with only certified small businesses eligible to submit quotes. The project involves specific installation considerations such as working on the 3rd floor with one main passenger/service elevator, potential 2-5 steps at building entrance, and possible use of a lift gate for equipment transport. Vendors are encouraged to request a site visit to confirm precise measurements, discuss potential dimensional variations, and coordinate storage/staging areas for furniture parts. Electronic quote submissions are to be sent to Contract Specialist Ashley Steele, with no hard copy submissions accepted.

Vendor Questions and Answers

1) It is indicated a floor-to-ceiling height wall, but upon checking the RFQ file, the panels should be 70.86”H. Which one should be followed on this?

I believe that 70.8 is the better option due to the location of the sprinklers. We can confirm during a site visit (instructions for which are detailed in the solicitation), if requested.

2) Is there a floor plan/layout we can use with wall dimensions so we can properly design and render the furniture that would fit in the rooms? If not, are the dimensions provided on the RFQ fixed?

There is wiggle room when it comes to the dimensions listed in the RFQ but they are based on measurements taken by a professional company that suits the space. Proposed variations and the reasons for them will be considered and should be discussed during an aforementioned site visit.

3) Is there a storage/staging area for the furniture parts prior to installation?

We should be able to provide a space for this. We would need to know how long and the dimensions of the space that is needed but that should not be an issue.

4) At what floor are the rooms? Are they on the same building? If above ground floor, is there a service elevator the contractor can utilize to help carry parts? How many stairs leading to the building?

3rd floor. Same building. There is one main elevator and it is used as a passenger and service elevator. Depending on the entrance used there can be 2 or up to 5 steps. If you have a lift gate that can be used to push the items from the truck to the loading dock, there is an elevator that may be used and stairs can be avoided all together. We’d have to get confirmation in order to execute that second option.
