Q&A 03012019
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR N0018919Q0095
(As of 01 March 2019)
1. Please clarify availability work time frame. Amendment 0001, Q & A #1 is a little unclear. Will the contractor have 30 days from Award to pick up the vessel and accomplish removals, and then another 30 -45 days for reinstallations and return of vessel after receipt of the marine gear back from Great Lakes? How long does Great Lakes need for their efforts?
A- The approximate dates are flexible. Once the awardee delivers the marine gear to the manufacturer, a month for repair is more than adequate as long as there is no damage to the major reused components in the gear.
2. Will the Government have both shafts locked prior to the contractor towing the vessel from NNSY to their facility?
A- The command would have to do this prior to the movement of the boat.
3. Per Q & A #5 of Amendment 0001, we cannot price the requirements of paragraph 4.7.4 without additional information. When will this be provided?
Prior to bid date?
A- For bidding purposes, the shaft is 4” diameter 10’ft length aquamet
4. Does the Government have drydock blocking plans for this vessel and/or its class?
A- There are no official docking plans for this vessel. It is a flat bottom boat contractor should brace the vessel along frames (transverse and longitudinal) along the length of the vessel using good marine practice as discussed in previous emails. Any yard that will bid this vessel should have a dock master capable of dry docking the vessel.
