Squad – Close Quarters Sight (CQS) and Clip-On Magnifier (CM) for the Close Quarter Sight

(CQS).

1.1 Background

The mission of United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) MAS-D is to provide

Special Operations Forces (SOF) with weapon sights and optics optimized in their configuration for individual, squad and precision small arms that will improve situational awareness, decrease engagement times, and increase Probability of Hit P(h) commensurate to the effective range of the weapon and its munitions. Intended for use with Compact Rifles and Assault Rifles in 0-

300m rapid engagements, the CQS incorporates an illuminated shape and/or dot imposed on a

WFOV lens to increase the speed of target acquisition. The CQS will include or merge a magnified ancillary optic to enhance target acquisition while maneuvering in open terrain before or after close quarter engagements.
