About this file

These are the construction specifications for the Mortimer Workcenter Storm Damage Repairs Project located in McDowell County, North Carolina, prepared by the U.S. Forest Service's Grandfather Ranger District for February 2025. The comprehensive specifications cover multiple construction divisions including site work, concrete, wood and plastics, thermal and moisture protection, doors and windows, finishes, and electrical systems. The project involves repairs to an existing workcenter building, with detailed requirements for materials, installation methods, and execution across various construction disciplines.

Key technical specifications include using Schedule 40 PVC for gravity sewers, copper tubing for water lines, Andersen 100 Series composite windows, LP Smartside for ceiling and wall panels, Johns-Manville fiberglass insulation, and specific requirements for electrical wiring, conduits, and fixtures. The specifications mandate strict adherence to manufacturer installation guidelines, building codes, and quality standards, with provisions for testing, grounding, and final cleanup. Materials must meet specific standards like ASTM, NEMA, and UL requirements, and the project includes provisions for underground utility marking, erosion control, and temporary seeding.
