Text version
MIL‐STD‐461G CS116 conducted susceptibility, damped sinusoidal transients, cables and power leads requirement:
A compatible generator must meet waveform requirements of figure CS116‐1 when testing to MIL‐STD‐
461G and it shall meet the current requirements of figure CS116‐2 when testing in accordance with
Section 5.14 of MIL‐STD‐461G. In addition, the Radio Frequency (RF) connections to the transient generator must be BNC ‐type. The Transient Generator compliance shall be demonstrated at the following six frequencies: 10 kHz, 100 KHz, 1 MHz, 10 MHz, 30 MHz, and 100 MHz. The test signal repetition rate shall be no greater than one pulse per second and no less than one pulse every two seconds.
The test procedure shall be as follows:
a. Turn on the measurement equipment and allow sufficient time for stabilization.
b. Calibration. Perform the following procedure using the calibration setup for waveform verification, see figures CS116‐1, CS116‐2, and CS116‐3.
(1) Set the frequency of the damped sine generator at 10 kHz.
(2) Adjust the amplitude of the signal from the damped sine generator to the level specified in the requirement.
(3) Record the damped sine generator settings.
(4) Verify and record that the waveform complies with the requirements. Calculate and record the damping factor (Q).
(5) Repeat b(2) through b(4) for each frequency (0.01 (10 kHz), 0.1 (100 KHz), 1 MHz, 10 MHz, 30
MHz, and 100 MHz).
Data presentation shall be as follows:
a. Provide a photograph of the six frequencies and amplitudes at which the Transient Generator shall demonstrate compliance.
b. Provide graphical representation of calibrated (with Q values) and injected waveforms with test data.
c. A Certificate of Conformance shall be required.
