About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) response from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) addressing a clarification question related to RFQ MG-07142026, dated July 22, 2026.
The document addresses a single inquiry regarding raw material sourcing for machined parts. The offeror asked whether LBNL specifies a minimum raw material size requirement for quotation purposes or if offerors should independently determine billet sizes based on engineering drawings. LBNL's response clarifies that the laboratory does not impose minimum raw material dimension requirements. Instead, prospective offerors are responsible for determining appropriate starting material dimensions based on the provided engineering drawings to ensure compliance with all drawing specifications. This response shifts responsibility to offerors for material procurement decisions during the quotation development process.

LBNL Response to Question 03 Re: LBNL RFQ MG-07142026 – 07/22/2026
1. Could LBNL please clarify whether offerors should determine the appropriate starting billet size based on the engineering drawing, or if LBNL has a specific minimum raw material size requirement that should be used when preparing quotations?
LBNL Response: LBNL does not specify the minimum raw material dimensions for these parts. Prospective offerors should determine the starting material dimensions based on the provided drawing to meet the drawing specifications.
