Playa del Carmen Questions and Answers set 1 – Dec 09 2015

Q1- We need the blue prints in AutoCAD format, so we are able to work in them easily, would you send them to me please?

A-1 The U.S. Government will provide AutoCAD drawing to the winning contractor through a government controlled website “ProjNet.” Bidders should have enough detail to bid the project using the available PDF versions.

Q-2 We need to know the amount of KVA (energy) that the plaza will provide to each commercial space you have, so we can determine if you will need a new substation or not.

A-2 The Plaza manager stated that each of the offices receive 60 amperes per board, so for two boards it is 120 amperes. The plaza houses a small casino and a bank which have their own 45 KVA transformer.

Q-3 Please send me a copy this via of any CFE receipt that you have from those commercial spaces from previous months so we can know what type of energy you are receiving.

A-3 Please see one invoice of one locale below. Both are identical.

Q-4 We need some information regarding structural construction on the plaza in order to determine if it is safe to demolish the wall on the area that will be intended for employee entrance.

A-4 The plaza management advises not to remove the solid concrete beams or columns.

Q-5 We need to have all the structural information on the new walls and columns to be constructed. There is information on location of each one, but not the structural details of them.

A-5 Wall details are listed on drawings 4 and 5 in the packet in the “simbology” box as wall made out of 10x20x40 cm cinder block. Their design reflects CMU walls with concrete columns and beams. Interior, non-FE, walls can and should be constructed with a simple gypsum and metal (most likely aluminum) stud construction, if possible and reasonable in Mexico. There are no special requirements for those walls. All other hardline walls should be constructed as specified in the drawings.

Q-6 Statement of Work part 4.4.3 states a requirement for exterior windows and protection stating that “The contractor shall furnish and install 1 exterior window according to Attachment 1 with one escape hatch, yet the drawings do not show exterior windows to the corridor, only one in the back of the employee space.

A-6 This requirement is no longer in the drawing packet and this section is deleted.

Q-7 Part 4.4.1 of the SOW mentions 3mm steel plate at the service window walls but those walls are steel studs with plywood as correctly shown in detail 1 (lower left corner) of drawing 31. The 3mm steel plate is only at masonry walls as correctly shown on detail D1 (upper right of same page). The designer sometimes shows both items such as detail D3 (lower right corner) of drawing 32 where they show both plywood and 3mm steel. Also this detail D3 shows a steel tube for the door as 100 x 150 x 2 steel tube but OBO criteria calls for 6mm wall thickness and not 2mm. Also since the tube is already 6mm thick, the plywood or 3mm plate is not needed and cover with stucco only.

A–7 There is no requirement for 3mm steel plate around service windows or on that wall. That wall is already designed at 5-min FE. Build walls as designed in drawings—steel plates only around exterior walls, and the given steel stud and plywood details along the 5-min FE demark (includes the teller windows). The drawing beside D3 that shows the steel tube for the door is for exterior walls only (as should have been noted). It is a different drawing and not a part of D3. Maintain 3mm steel plate on inside of wall and weld as depicted in the drawing. Increase 2mm thickness to 6mm making tube dimensions 100x150x6.

Q–8 Why is there a mylar film requirement on the inside of all service window glass panes 4.4.2?

A–8This requirement will be deleted. Only the exterior window in room 7 (kitchen and conference room) requires mylar.

Q–9 There is no exterior window to the corridor with an escape hatch 4.4.3.

A–9 This window was deleted. This requirement will be removed.

Q-10 Part 4.4.5 of the SOW mentions the two FE doors as having SHW-5A hardware which is okay but the TSS drawings (last five pages of the 60 page drawing set) shows the staff entry door as having a door detail DKB wiring guideline on drawing GEN SY8.01 which is for a lock and leave post. If this is correct then the hardware on the staff door would be set SHW-18G instead and the main entry door remain SHW-5A.

A–10 This is correct. The SOW will be amended to reflect two security hardware - one of SHW5A for the public entrance door and once of SHW-18G for the employee entrance door image1.emf image2.emf
