About this file

This is an addendum to a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Marketing and Public Relations Services issued by Valley Transit in Appleton, Wisconsin. The addendum primarily consists of Valley Transit's Brand Guidelines document, which establishes the visual and communication standards that contractors must follow when developing marketing materials and initiatives. The guidelines specify mandatory design elements including the primary font (Myriad Pro) with Arial as secondary, a defined color palette consisting of two primary colors (Pantone 2758 navy blue and Pantone 361 green) and three secondary colors (90% black, white, and Pantone 144 gold), and logo usage requirements including proper spacing, orientation, and placement restrictions. The document emphasizes the importance of brand consistency across all platforms—from buses and transit centers to advertising, social media, and web presence—to increase brand recognition and perceived value among Fox Cities residents of all income levels and life stages.

The Brand Guidelines addendum reinforces Valley Transit's commitment to maintaining a professional and reliable brand image while expanding ridership. Specific prohibitions are outlined for logo usage, including restrictions against non-approved colors, font modifications, graphic effects, rotation, proportion changes, and placement on distracting backgrounds. The guidelines require a logo safe zone equivalent to the full height of the horizontal logo to preserve the logo's prominence and impact. Valley Transit's contact information is provided, with offices located at 801 S. Whitman Avenue, Appleton, Wisconsin 54914, and the Transit Center at 100 E. Washington Street, Appleton, Wisconsin 54911, with telephone contact at 920.832.5800 and web presence at myvalleytransit.com.

Why Brand Guidelines Are Important

Brand guidelines define the elements that make up the Valley Transit brand and how they are used. Having brand guidelines in place dictates how Valley Transit communicates with its audience.

Consistency is important in making Valley Transit recognizable across various platforms throughout the Fox Cities. A consistent brand should have common threads that weave throughout all materials. Think everything from the buses to the Transit Center, advertising, social media and the website. When a brand’s identity is consistent and cohesive, it increases the brand’s perceived value. Since Valley Transit’s goal is to expand its ridership to Fox Cities residents of all incomes and stages of life, it is important to portray the professionalism and reliability of Valley Transit in its brand guidelines.
