About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) from U.S. Customs and Border Protection seeking market research on Carrizo Cane eradication strategies along the Southwest border. The RFI requests detailed information from potential contractors about their capabilities to develop a comprehensive 3-5 year implementation strategy for removing Arundo donax (Carrizo cane) in areas including Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, and Del Rio, Texas. Key requirements include vegetation removal techniques, chemical application strategies, root/biomass elimination, seeding/replanting approaches, and capabilities to support border security, habitat restoration, and sustainable land management.

The RFI seeks specific details from respondents, including previous relevant experience, innovative in-house tools, specialized equipment, staff credentials, labor categories and estimated rates, potential teaming/subcontracting arrangements, and anticipated challenges in executing the project. Respondents are asked to provide comprehensive information about their technical approach, project management expertise, quality assurance processes, safety protocols, and ability to effectively perform site assessments, vegetation removal, post-removal restoration, and waste management across diverse land ownership scenarios. The document suggests this is a pre-solicitation market research effort to understand industry capabilities before formally releasing a solicitation for Carrizo Cane eradication services.
