RFQ M67001-16-Q-0040
Steam Plant Chemicals
QUESTION: The main question that we have regarding the bid is about the products you are requesting.
I see you show quantities but there is nothing stating the active ingredient and the % active of the products. Can you tell us for each product what that is? Or if you have Safety Data sheets on the materials we should be able to get the information from there.
ANSWER: The treatments are listed in UFC 3-240-13FN Unified Facilities Criteria Industrial Water Treatment Operation and Maintenance. There may be other information in the ASME documents.
An appendix in the UFC gives examples of these treatments. Some are also available on GSA. SDS forms can be found online at GSA or most chemical treatment sites. They may also be available from boiler manufacturer’s sites. We do not have SDS forms from DOD.
The active ingredients are:
Amine mixture of morpholine, DEAE (Diethylaminoethanol) and cyclohexylamine for steam and condensate pH control
Sulfite mixture catalyzed, sodium sulfite with sodium metabisulfite as an oxygen scavenger
Phosphate: a polyphosphate used to precipitate solids in the boiler
Combined treatment will include all these together or some combination
Nitrite is typically a nitrite-azole borate combination for hot water heating systems Concentrations may vary with manufacturer.
