About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) clarification for a cryogenics facility operations contract. The contractor is required to issue liquid oxygen and nitrogen to customer-provided carts for aircraft maintenance support. Two 2,000-gallon storage tanks—one for oxygen and one for nitrogen—will be utilized for this purpose. The contractor fills the carts at the cryogenics facility, and active duty personnel then transport the carts to the aircraft ramp for servicing. The contractor is not responsible for issuing fuel directly from tank to aircraft.

Liquid oxygen and nitrogen are procured from commercial vendors via truck delivery, with an average of one truck per month for each product type (arriving every one to two months). Active duty members are responsible for ordering the cryogenic products. The contractor must monitor vacuum pressure on the cryogenic storage tanks and perform purge operations as needed, with all required equipment provided by the government.
