DRAFT Item Description The National Museum of the Marine Corps (NMMC) requires a standalone, self-contained radio-frequency identification (RFID) tagging, reader, and inventory system to maintain accountability on the more than 3,500 firearms held within the museum’s Small Arms/Light Weapons collection. The following requirements are necessary for this system.
Required Delivery: No later than 60 days ADC (After date of contract) Delivery Addresses: The Contractor shall coordinate delivery addresses with the Government technical point of contact (TPOC) upon contract award.

Salient Characteristics:
1. System must be standalone and include a laptop or tablet running Windows OS.
2. System must not require any subscriptions, 3rd party data storage, or recurring fees. All data must be stored on site and NMMC retains full ownership and control of all data.
3. The system shall have the ability to track firearm movements and schedule movements when necessary; if weapons are moved past the sensors in the vault or museum without authorization, the system shall have the ability to send an alert immediately to the appropriate museum staff and authorities.
4. One hand-held RFID reader is required for conducting inventories both in the vault and within the museum. A minimum of an eight (8) foot scanning range is required.
5. Handheld and stationary scanners will automatically update the inventory software in real time.
6. 4,000 RFID tags will need to be semi-permanently affixed to each firearm via steel cable so that they will remain with the firearm and are tamper resistant. Tags must be small and inconspicuous as to not take away from the visual focus on the artifact when on exhibit. Tags cannot be larger than 2” in diameter. The Contractor shall encode tags and the NMMC staff will affix to each firearm.
7. Two (2) RFID sensor systems are required to cover the entrances to the weapons storage vault and the museum loading dock. These scanners shall have the capability to automatically scan RFID tags whenever a firearm is removed from the vault and upon arrival at the museum. The vendor shall install these sensors.
8. System shall include all installation hardware, including but not limited to brackets, zips, corner mounts, etc.
9. System must include 24/7 Tech Support via phone, help desk, or email.
10. System must include software and hardware warranty.
11. System must include software updates, manuals, tutorials, and training materials.
12. The Contractor shall install the system, test the system, and enter all initial data. The Contractor shall train NMMC system users.
13. Delivery must be included.
