Contractor Questions and Answers

Q: Drawing C-06 shows an access across to the north side of the channel but says it cannot be used to haul embankment material. Could we use this access to move a crane to the north side of the channel?

ANSWER: The access shown on sheet C-06 can be used to move equipment and any materials except embankment material. The access is not to be used as a haul road.

Q: In the General Notes & Details. The plans does not show any rebar spacing or concrete details. Will there be any engineering required to the design of the Bridge?

ANSWER: The bridge is precast and therefore no engineering is required on the part of the Contractor. The bridge bent caps and deck slabs will come from a bridge precast manufacturer.

Q: The note on S-103 refers to "Contract Plans for Precast Elements".

What drawings are these notes referring too?

ANSWER: This note refers to the Plans, General Notes, Details and Construction Recommendations (Generally referred to as "Shop Drawings") that come from the bridge manufacturer.

Q: Reference Sht. C-24 of the plans, there is a table depicting dike elevations in relation to the existing ground elevations. Lists existing ground elevations from 7.0 to 12.0, however, the existing ground in this pit is around 0.0. Can a corrected table be provided for this project?

ANSWER: The Contractors can ignore the provided table of dike elevations. The Contractors must determine the height of dikes in order to reduce/stop water from entering the borrow pit.
