About this file
This document is a User & Profile Maintenance Guide for the City of Long Beach's procurement platform, Long Beach Buys, powered by Periscope. The guide provides comprehensive instructions for Seller Administrators responsible for managing vendor accounts, user access, and organizational information within the system. The document does not pertain to a specific contract opportunity but rather serves as an operational manual for platform management. It covers three primary functional areas: adding and maintaining user accounts with role-based access controls (Seller or Seller Administrator), managing organizational addresses for mailing and bidding purposes, and maintaining commodity codes and services that determine bid notifications.
The guide outlines step-by-step procedures for common administrative tasks, including creating new user accounts with login credentials and security questions, inactivating or resetting passwords for existing users, and modifying user roles and permissions. For address maintenance, administrators can edit existing addresses or add new address types such as General Mailing Addresses or Bid Mailing Addresses with detailed contact information including phone, fax, email, and web address fields. Additionally, the document explains how to search for and add commodity codes to vendor profiles using keyword searches or dropdown selections to ensure vendors receive notifications for relevant bid opportunities. The platform automatically generates temporary passwords for new users and provides visual interfaces for all administrative functions, streamlining vendor account management within the Long Beach procurement ecosystem.
