About this file

This is a Labor and Material Payment Bond form issued by the City of Jackson, Michigan for use on the M-106 Cooper Street Maintenance Paving project. The bond serves as a guarantee that the contractor will pay all subcontractors, laborers, material suppliers, and other parties furnishing labor or materials in connection with the contract work. The bond is required in compliance with Public Act No. 213 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1963, as amended. The form is a template requiring completion with specific information including the contractor name, surety company name, bond amount, contract date, and project description. The bond remains in full force and effect regardless of any changes, alterations, modifications, or extensions to the underlying contract terms, with notice to the surety waived for such modifications.

The bond requires execution by authorized officers of both the principal (contractor) and surety, with the surety's execution requiring an attorney-in-fact with attached power of attorney documentation. The bond protects the City of Jackson and the State of Michigan by ensuring that all parties providing labor and materials on the Cooper Street paving project receive payment from the contractor. Completion of this bond is a mandatory requirement prior to contract award and commencement of the 0.724-mile cold milling and single-course HMA paving work on M-106 between North Street and Porter Street.
