About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for the La Veta Tower Site project dated September 24, 2015, involving the Office of Information Technology (OIT). The project encompasses the decommissioning of an existing tower and installation of new infrastructure at the La Veta site. Key project requirements include removal of excess concrete dumped on site to six inches below existing grade, disassembly of the existing tower for placement on the State's trailer with subsequent removal by OIT, installation of a new entry port as specified in project documentation, and performance of utility locates by the selected contractor. The new tower foundation will be positioned to avoid interference with the existing shelter slab-on-grade foundation. Underground utilities at the site include AWOS power and communications lines as well as propane lines located behind the building. OIT staff will be required to escort the selected contractor throughout all site work activities.
Additional project specifications require the contractor to select an appropriate concrete supplier subject to OIT approval of the concrete mix prior to pouring, with identified local suppliers including Southwest Ready Mix in Alamosa and Huerfano County Concrete in Walsenburg. All equipment to be moved or replaced, connectors, and other materials will be outlined in the Request for Proposal (RFP). Natural spoils from the project will be utilized for road fill and backfill purposes. The contractor bears responsibility for arranging necessary utility locates and coordinating concrete supplier selection within project requirements.
