About this file
This document is Addendum 1 for KEYS Bid 04-25, issued by Keys Energy Services, a municipal electric utility in Key West, Florida. The addendum provides a specific question and answer regarding the disposal of wood poles, reels, and pallets. According to the document, contractors are required to provide their own means of transportation for the materials, which are currently stored on the ground. Crews will pre-cut wood poles into 5-6 foot lengths before disposal.
While the addendum itself is brief, it relates to a broader procurement effort for disposal of pentachlorophenol (penta) and chromated copper arsenate (CCA)-treated wood materials. The procurement seeks contractors with environmental compliance capabilities, focusing on proper hazardous waste management. Contractors will be responsible for collection, transportation, and documentation of disposal, with an emphasis on meeting Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and EPA guidelines. The contract is expected to have an initial three-year term with potential one-year extensions, and KEYS intends to award multiple contracts to ensure availability of FEMA-compliant vendors for emergency disposal scenarios.
