About this file
This document is a draft specification for a KC-135 Nose Trailer, detailing precise technical requirements for a specialized trailer designed to transport and support a KC-135 aircraft body. The trailer specifications include a double drop "Lowboy" style design with approximately 40 feet body length, 10' x 10' rear deck, and a capacity to support 35,000-45,000 pounds. Key features include a hydraulically operated detachable gooseneck/kingpin front, adjustable air-ride rear suspension, anti-lock drum brakes, LED lighting, and a requirement to accommodate a Ground Power Unit (GPU) on the rear deck.
Additional requirements specify a "saddle type" body cradle permanently attached to the trailer, with the forward Main Landing Gear used as an attachment point. The trailer must be painted Air Force Blue and will require approved drawings before construction. An "Industry Day" is planned for potential bidders to take measurements and ask questions, with the date to be determined. The specification includes a sample image of a Rogers 75-ton SP75DS-4XAR Detachable Gooseneck Trailer for reference, and mandates compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
