About this file

This file provides information on expected locksmith repair service hours. The attachment outlines typical repair times for safe locks, noting locks can usually be replaced in 3-5 hours but may require 2-7 days if drilling is necessary. Drilling is dependent on the safe label and whether the drawer face or hole must be replaced.

The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number KAZUO1011 seeking locksmith repair and maintenance services for GSA approved containers and Mosler locks at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado. Interested vendors should review the attached statement of work for more details on requirements. The solicitation is issued by the Department of the Air Force Space Command.

Text version

How many hours will need to be dedicated, on average, for each call?

The number of hours it takes to repair a safe is usually based on two criteria. If the lock is able to be replaced without having to be drilled out, the typical repair time is 3-5 hours dependent on the availability of the replacement lock. If the lock must be drilled out in order to open the safe and replace the lock, then that can take anywhere from 2-7 days dependent on whether it is a red or black label safe. One must have the safe drawer facing completely replaced while the other can have the hole drilled repaired.
