Important Notes Calculations and terms in this report are based on NFRC 2010. The performance values shown above represent NOMINAL VALUES for the center of glass with no spacer system or framing. Slight variations may occur due to manufacturing tolerances, point of manufacture, and type of instrumentation used to measure the optical properties.
For configurations which include ceramic frit coating, the actual values may vary significantly based upon the thickness and composition of the frit. For configurations with diffuse optical properties the solar transmission is per ASTM 1084-86. For configurations with coatings laminated facing the PVB, there may be a noticeable color change. Guardian recommends that a full size mock-up be approved.
Please note that the THERMAL STRESS GUIDELINE is only a rough reference to the thermal safety of a glazing. Other factors such as the size of glass areas, shapes and patterns, glass thickness, glass damaged during shipping, handling or installation, orientation of the building, exterior shading, overhangs/fins that reduce wind speed, and areas with high daily temperature fluctuations can all increase the probability of thermal breakage. The results shown are not for any specific glazing installation and do not constitute a warranty against glass breakage.
Explanation of Terms % Transmittance Visible is the percentage of visible light at normal incidence (90° to surface) directly transmitted through the glass.
Visible Light is defined as radiant energy in the wavelength range of 380 nm to 780 nm with Ill. D65 and CIE 2° observer
% Ultraviolet (UV) Transmittance is the percentage of ultraviolet light at normal incidence (90° to surface) directly transmitted through the glass. Ultraviolet Light is defined as radiant energy from the sun having a wavelength range of 300 nm to 380 nm at ASTM air mass of 1.5
% Solar Energy Direct Transmittance is the percentage of solar energy at normal incidence (90° to surface) directly transmitted through the glass. Solar Energy is the radiant energy from the sun having a wavelength range of 300 nm to 2500 nm at ASTM air mass of 1.5.
% Reflectance Visible Outdoors is the percentage of visible light at normal incidence directly reflected from the glass back outdoors
% Reflectance Visible Indoors is the percentage of visible light at normal incidence directly reflected from the glass back indoors
% Solar Energy Reflected Outdoors is the percentage of solar energy at normal incidence directly reflected from the glass back outdoors

PERFORMANCE
CALCULATOR
SunGuard® is a registered trademark of Guardian Industries Corp. Page 2 of 2
U-Factor (also called U-Value) is the air-to-air thermal conductance of 39" (1 meter) high glazing and associated air films. Imperial Units are Btu/hr.ft².F. Winter-night = 12.3 mph wind at -0.4°F outdoors and 69.8°F still (no forced convection) indoor air. Summer = 0 sun, 6.15 mph wind at 89.6°F outdoors and 75.2°F still (no forced convection) indoor air. Metric Units are W/m2K. Winter-night = 5.5 m/s wind at -18°C & 21°C indoors. Summer = 0 sun, 2.75 m/s wind at 32°C & 24°C still indoor air.
Relative Heat Gain (RHG) is the total net heat gain to the indoors due to both the air-to-air thermal conductance and the solar heat gain. Imperial units are Btu/hr.ft². RHG = [(Summer U-Value)(89.6°F - 75.2°F) + (Shading Coefficient)(200 Btu/hr-ft²)]. Metric units are W/m². RHG = [(Summer U-Value)(32°C - 24°C) + (Shading Coef.)(631 W/m²)]
Shading Coefficient (SC) is the fraction of solar heat, direct (300 to 2500 nm) plus indirect (5 to 40 µm), transferred indoors through the glass. For reference, 1/8" (3.1 mm) clear glass has a value of 1.00 (SC is an older term being replaced by the SHGC).
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) is the fraction of solar energy incident on the glazing that is transferred indoors both directly and indirectly through the glazing. The direct gain portion equals the direct solar transmittance, while the indirect is the fraction of the solar energy absorbed to the energy reradiated and convected indoors. No heat gain from warmer outdoor air is included. SHGC = (Direct Solar Trans) + {[(Indirect Solar Heat Gain) - (Summer U-Value)(89.6°F - 75.2°F)] / (248.209 Btu/hr-ft²)}
Light-to-Solar Gain (LSG) is the ratio of visible light gain to solar gain. LSG = (Visible Transmittance) / (SHGC)
This performance analysis is provided under license by Guardian Industries Corp. It is designed to assist the user in evaluating the performance of the glass products identified on this report. Painted Glass Summit Glass Coatings uses a paint adhesion that creates a covalent bond between glass and color coating on the surface of your project. While that might not sound like a big deal, it is when it comes to the paint peeling off if a substandard process were to be used.
Just “painting” the glass is not enough for
Summit Glass Coatings. We required testing in severe conditions to make sure the bond between glass and coating could withstand the normal use of our products without any risk of failure before we moved forward on this very exciting product line.
A vast array of colors are available to create the mood and look you want for your home or business.
&A Q
Q. Can I have holes or cut-outs in the glass panels?
A. Yes. Cut-outs for outlets and holes for light switches, outlets, notches are not a problem, but must be cut or drilled prior to tempering.
Once tempered the glass cannot be cut or drilled.
Q. How much does painted glass cost?
A. Painted glass is priced per square foot (glass and paint) with additional costs for cutouts, holes, polishing or notches and installation (if applicable).
Q. What if I want a color different from your samples?
A. We are able to mix colors to order, including sparkle, pearl and metallic effects, and we will mix as close to your sample as possible.
We are able to mix all Benjamin Moore and
Sherwin Williams colors. Please be aware that colors will look much shinier through glass, so they will not necessarily look exactly the same as your paint.
Q. Can I install painted glass on top of my existing tiled wall or countertops?
A. No. We do not recommend this.
Q. How are the glass edges finished?
A. All external glass edges are either flat polished or pencil polished typically.
Q. What type of glass do we paint on?
A. We paint on Low Iron glass which is optically clearer than regular clear glass.

ChrismaColor™ Painted Glass Guide to Adhesives
Mounting Surface Preparation:
ChrismaColor™ Painted Glass can be affixed to many different type of surfaces. The key to preparing the mounting surface is make sure the surface is clean, dry, smooth, level and verifying the surface can support the weight of the glass panel(s). The installer should review and be familiar with the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions for use.
Apply the adhesive according to the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
Adhesives:
Summit Glass Coatings has tested Bohle’s XtraGrip and found it to be compatible with the coatings used to manufacture ChrismaColor Painted Glass. The installer should follow the adhesive manufacturer written instructions. Summit Glass Coatings advises using a mechanical fastener in addition to with adhesive to support the weight of the glass panel(s) and to secure the glass while the adhesive cures.

To whom it may concern, Guardian’s popular SunGuard advanced architectural glass products are made at Kingsburg, CA, DeWitt, IA, Carleton, MI, Geneva, NY, and Corsicana, TX plants. These products can help projects earn
Leardership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credits in up to five categories. Shown below is a brief summary of the potential LEED credits that are available for UTC when using Guardian glass for windows and façade applications.
Energy and Atmosphere Credit 1: Optimize Energy Performance (2-19 points)
Utilize SunGuard glass to increase energy performance above the prerequisite standard per ASHRAE or other applicable energy codes. Guardian float glass and SunGuard Advanced Architectural Glass products include the following products:
o SN 54, SN 62, SN 68, SNX 62/27on clear, green, UltraWhite

Material and Resources Credit 4: Recycled Content (1-2 points)
LEED v.3 does not allow in-plant recycled glass cullet to be counted as recycled content. Only recycled glass brought in from third-party manufacturing facilities will meet the definition of recycled content. The primary raw material for architectural glass is 72% silica sand. Trace amounts of other raw materials are present. Guardian float plants typically have 2% pre-consumer recycled content in their clear and green float glass and SunGuard glass products. UltraWhite and CrystalGray both have 0% pre-consumer recycled content. SatinDeco does not qualify as it is manufactured in Spain.
Material and Resources Credit 5: Regional Materials (1-2 points) The primary raw material for architectural glass is silica sand. Guardian’s source for silica sand is shown in the key on the following page. Guardian’s silica sand locations are within 500 miles of our float plants. To obtain this credit, building materials must be extracted, manufactured and fabricated within 500 miles of the project site.
Guardian’s independent Select
Fabricator Glass Dynamics in Stoneville, NC, is approximately 390 miles from UTC.
