Subject: Designation of Agilent Technologies Instrumentation in Invitation to Bid

Dear Mrs. Cook, The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences (ADFS) is seeking to procure one (1) Agilent 6230B Accurate-Mass TOF with Bruker DART-OS and four (4) Agilent 8890 Gas Chromatograph (GC)/5977C Mass Selective Detector (MSD) instrument systems for use in our forensic sample analyses associated with criminal cases.

ADFS must designate the make and model of this instrument to ensure compatibility with existing instrumentation and to maintain our required compliance with federal law and international accreditation requirements. The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 International Standards accredits ADFS analytical methods. For these reasons, the bid specifications provided by ADFS designate both the make and model of the requested instrument. There can be no substitutions for standardization purposes.

Thank you for your continued support. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Sincerely, Holli L. Baker Deputy Director
