4.23. Mondo Rubber Flooring Procedure Guidelines

Mondo Rubber Flooring composed of 100% synthetic virgin rubber is one of the longest wearing, most beautiful and toughest floors available. The following procedures are recommended to provide the highest appearance level with the least amount of maintenance effort.

The procedures are divided into sections covering the required initial cleaning as well as regular maintenance options depending upon the appearance level desired.

A. PRECAUTIONS

To insure against damage to Mondo Flooring NEVER use any of the following in performing maintenance on the floor:

1. Floor maintenance pads of any type or manufacture.

2. Steel wool or abrasive brushes.

3. Abrasive or very alkaline cleaners (such as conventional wax strippers, powdered cleansers, butyl cleaners) – cleaning products must have neutral

(6.0 – 9.0) ph. rating.

4. Cotton mops (leaves lint).

5. High Speed floor machines (400 rpm –) of any type or manufacture.

6. Solvents of any type or nature (except as directed below).

7.

A. NEW INSTALLATION CLEANING, REMOVAL OF ADHESIVE RESIDUES

As soon as possible after installation, adhesive residues or spills should be removed as follows:

1. SOFT EPOXY – Use a clean, coarse cloth dampened with paint thinner (not turpentine) to remove adhesive along seams. Turn cloth frequently. Do not pour thinner directly on floor.

2. HARDENED EPOXY – Use a non-abrasive plastic scrubbing pad with paint thinner and scrub affected areas lightly. Epoxy residues should flake off with the use of a dulled scraper. Avoid using sharp objects such as razor blades or thin scrapers. While some initial dullness may result, it will disappear after performing normal maintenance.

C. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

The Mondo Sport Surfaces are easy to maintain, and the frequency of the two basic maintenance operations will be determined by the owner’s standards. The Sport

Surface should be vacuumed on a regular basis to remove any debris or surface dirt that has been tracked onto the surface. It is recommended that this be done on the average of once a week. For this operation, there is no special type of equipment necessary.

Also, the Sport Surface should receive on a semi-annual basis, a thorough scrubbing/washing. More than two washings per year may be required in cases where the track is heavily used. For large areas the use of a wet-vac machine is recommended. In order to wash Sport Surfaces, the following procedure should be followed:

1. Wash the Surface with a mechanical rotary scrubber equipped with soft nylon brushes. DO NOT under any circumstances use metallic scrubbers or brushes on the Sport Surface for they will irreparably damage it. When washing the surface, (especially in cases where oil and other stains are present) a mild commercial detergent/cleanser should be used. DO NOT use any strong chemical cleaning agents such as the solvents Ether, Acetone, Ketone, or any other chemical cleaner whose effects on our surfaces are unknown. It is to be noted that in situations where the surface is not stained or heavily soiled, the washing can be done using solely tap water. It is strongly suggested that before washing the track where a detergent will be used, that the manufacturer or his distributor be contacted to see if the detergent in question is one recommended for use on its Sport Surface.

2. Thoroughly rinse floor.

3. Vacuum excess water from surface.
