About this file

This is a technical specification document describing the FlexLink conveyor layout and integration requirements for the Dallas Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) Low to Medium Volume TCA and Sorting Loops Project. The document addresses the West KNAPP return puck conveyor system that operates through the new Tote Carousel Area (TCA) and notes that this conveyor can be removed or modified to accommodate new equipment installation and design. Critically, the document specifies that pucks are not tracked during return to puck ponds, but feeder spirals are equipped with readers that track pucks to loops and puck packing stations. Any contractor modifications to these reader systems must integrate seamlessly with the existing KNAPP system without degrading its operational performance or functionality.

The document establishes a key constraint for contractors: modifications to the tracking and integration infrastructure must maintain full compatibility with the current KNAPP automation system. This requirement is essential given the Dallas CMOP's current operational capacity of approximately 90,000 prescriptions per day and anticipated future increases. The specification underscores the Department of Veterans Affairs' need for reliable, efficient automated systems that preserve existing performance while accommodating facility upgrades and expansion. The RFP (Solicitation Number 36C77026R0007) was updated and extended until August 20, 2026, reflecting the complexity and critical nature of integrating new automation equipment with legacy conveyor and tracking systems in this high-throughput pharmacy environment.

Text version

Note: The West KNAPP return puck conveyor that runs through the new TCA area, can be removed and or modified for ease of new equipment installation and design. Pucks are not tracked going back to the puck ponds. The feeder spirals all have readers that track pucks to the loops and puck packing. If these are modified, contractor must be able to integrate into the new system without de grading the KNAPP system.
