About this file

This document provides details for the Crash Report Sampling System (CRSS) Sampling Operations Resource Center federal contract opportunity. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration seeks services to operate the CRSS Sampling operations including police crash report collection, listing, sampling, and quality control activities. These services must ensure timeliness, accuracy, and consistency among all CRSS Samplers and Quality Control staff as well as proficiency in police crash report collection and sampling activities. Contractors will obtain data through a nationally representative probability sample selected from the estimated 5 to 7 million annual police-reported crashes involving motor vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. CRSS data are used to measure motor vehicle crash estimates, identify highway safety problems, measure safety trends, inform consumer initiatives, and support cost-benefit analyses of highway safety programs and regulations.
