About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the City of Austin's Austin Transportation and Public Works Department, Street & Bridge Operations, detailing specifications for the procurement of a non-nuclear, handheld asphalt density gauge with accessories. The device will be used to measure pavement density on overlay and other pavement projects. The contract becomes effective upon execution by the City and remains in effect until deliverables are complete or the City terminates the agreement. Delivery must occur within 14 calendar days after the purchase order is received to the specified location at 6301 Harold Court, Austin, Texas 78721, during standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, excluding observed City holidays.
The device must meet stringent technical requirements including ASTM D7113-05 and AASHTO T343-12 compliance, utilizing electrical impedance technology for non-invasive surface contact measurement. Key specifications include a measurement depth capability of 0.75 to 6 inches, reading completion time of no longer than 5 seconds, an 800x480 LCD touchscreen display with 1000 nits brightness, integrated temperature sensing from 0°F to 350°F, GPS functionality, and Bluetooth data transfer capability. The battery shall be 14.0 Amp-hr NiMH at 7.2 volts with a 4-hour recharge time. Required accessories include a hard shell wheeled carry case, one extension handle, and two chargers (wall and vehicle/truck). The procurement includes an 11-inch diameter sensing base and user-selectable measurement depth settings. Invoices must be submitted electronically to TPWAccountspayable.gov with no postal service delivery of invoices permitted.
