FMC DEVENS – REPLACE FIRE ALARM PANELS

PROJECT 2A1P QUESTIONS

SOLICITATION IFBP02051200001

The following questions were posed by a contractor for the above referenced solicitation:

SUBMITTED BY: R.B. ALLEN

1) The specifications calls for the breaking of a shield wire every 10 devices. There was no indication of shielded wiring in the building. Is this necessary?

CLARIFICATION: THIS REQUIREMENT WAS REMOVED IN AMENDMENT 0001 ISSUED 4/6/2012.

2) The specifications call for “Manufacturer” training. Is this on-site or at the manufacturers’ place of business?

CLARIFICATION: Operation training for line staff will be conducted on-site. Diagnostic training for Facilities staff will be held on-site as well.

3) The specification call for “verification” of the entire system upon completion. Is this meant to perform a 100% test on all of the systems upon completion?

CLARIFICATION: Yes, a 100% test is required.

4) During system “down-time” will a fire watch be provided?

CLARIFICATION: FMC Devens will provide fire watch at all times when required.

5) Upon removal of the existing equipment, is it the contractors’ responsibility to dispose of all the cabinets, batteries and assorted construction debris?

CLARIFICATION: FMC Devens will dispose of all old equipment, cabinets, batteries, debris, etc.

6) Some of the existing annunciators are flush mounted. Since the new annunciator is a different size box, would surface mount be acceptable?

CLARIFICATION: Surface mount boxes are acceptable, but the size will need to be provided to FMC Devens prior to installation to ensure that the new boxes will not encroach on the available width in passageways. If the surface mount boxes are too large another solution will have to be found.
