QUESTIONS AND RESPONSES
IFBP01171600001 - Remediate Mold Air Handlers Phase I
USP LEE
QUALITY MECHANICAL CONTACTING LLC:
1. Regarding Section 230548 VIBRATION AND SEISMIC CONTROLS FOR HVAC, does this pertain to only new hangers and anchors that we install?
CLARIFICATION – Section 230548 – 1.4 ACTION SUBMITTALS – Page 1 of 5 Construction Specifications date October 31, 2014 states “ Provide seismic restraints and restraint design for all ductwork, piping, duct mounted coils and equipment installed on this project.”
2. Does the air handler have to be back up and running at the end of each working day?
CLARIFICATION - It is not feasible to have the air handler operational at the end of every work day, however; we would like to group these air handler outages into larger more manageable groups of days.
Any approval for a total AHU shut down will be on an individual use basis and will require 5 day notice for use from contractors.
3. Will it be possible to leave one zone disconnected overnight?
CLARIFICATION – Yes this it is possible to leave a zone disconnected overnight.
4. The mechanical room has a set of double doors that allows access from mechanical room to the outside onto the roof. Can we access the mechanical room using these doors in order to bring the ductwork into the mechanical room?
CLARIFICATION - These doors are approximately 8’-0” wide by 7’-0” tall and are accessed from the rear of the housing unit via the inner perimeter road. The doors are directly above a 10’-0” wide corridor and the roof of the corridor must be protected against damage. These doors have been approved for limited use to stage materials. Any approval will be on an individual use basis and will require 5 day notice for use from contractors.
5. If permitted question # 4(to use the double doors from the roof to access the mechanical room), a lift will be necessary, can we use our lift to access these doors from the ground to the mechanical room?
CLARIFICATION - These doors are approximately 8’-0” wide by 7’-0” tall and are accessed from the rear of the housing unit via the inner perimeter road. The doors are directly above a 10’-0” wide corridor and the roof of the corridor must be protected against damage. These doors have been approved for limited use to stage materials. Any approval will be on an individual use basis and will require 5 day notice for use from contractors. The use of a lift is approved and will be necessary to lift up and over the corridor roof.
6. Can we leave our lift in a secure area so that it does not have to be checked in and out every day?
CLARIFICATION – Any major equipment such as a lift will have to clear security procedures at the rear gate and will not “under no circumstances” be allowed to stay inside the secure perimeter overnight.
7. Can we leave a job box of tools in a secure area so that it does not have to be checked in and out every day?
CLARIFICATION – Section 011000 Page 3 of 5 in the Construction Specifications date October 31, 2014 states that all tools must be inventoried on a daily basis and must leave thru whichever point (rear gate or front lobby) they entered. This specification still applies, however; contractors will be allowed to utilize gang boxes for tools. All tools must be on a master tool inventory list for each gang box. All gang boxes must have prior approval and all tools must be inventoried every day. All gang boxes will be secured with prison issued locks and may be stored in an approved location (central tool room, etc.) for the duration of the project.
