Summary: Invitation for Bid - Window Replacements
This Invitation for Bid (IFB) document is issued by Lunenburg County Public Schools in Kenbridge, Virginia, for a comprehensive window replacement project at two educational facilities: Victoria Elementary School and Central High School. The project scope includes complete demolition and disposal of existing windows, furnishing and installation of thermally broken aluminum windows with insulated glass units, aluminum embossed panels, exterior and interior caulking, metal flashings, egress windows with safety hardware at Central High School, and a complete mock-up window installation at Victoria Elementary School. Central High School also requires installation of PTAC louvers and blank-off panels, while Victoria Elementary requires demolition of existing EIFS/stucco infill panels and framing with structural support incorporation into the new window design. A non-mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Victoria Elementary School's main entrance. Pre-bid questions must be submitted by Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 4:30 PM to paul.caley@k12lcps.org. Sealed bids are due no later than 2:00 PM on July 24, 2026, at the Lunenburg County Public Schools School Board Office, 1009 Main Street, Kenbridge, Virginia 23944. The contract award and commencement date are not specified in the document.
Bid security of five percent (5%) of the total bid amount is required in the form of a bid bond, cashier's check, or certified check, with successful bidders required to provide 100% performance bonds and separate 100% payment bonds upon contract award. No specific budget or award value is disclosed; however, the School Board reserves the right to negotiate with the lowest responsible bidder if the bid price exceeds available funds and may reject any or all responses. All responding contractors must be authorized to conduct business in Virginia, hold current state contractor licensing and local business licensing as required, complete Lunenburg County Public Schools-approved background checks and drug screening for all employees, and maintain comprehensive insurance coverage including Workers' Compensation, Comprehensive General Liability ($1,000,000 combined single limits), Automobile Liability ($1,000,000 combined single limits), and Umbrella/Excess Liability ($2,000,000 minimum), with the School Board named as additional insured on all policies. The document contains no incumbent vendor information, set-asides for disadvantaged enterprises, or funding source specifications; all work must be performed during normal working hours (7:30 AM to 5:30 PM) with no more than two window openings allowed to remain boarded overnight, and contractors must comply with all Virginia OSHA safety requirements and school security protocols.
