General Services Administration Office of Administrative Services 1800 F Street NW Washington, DC 20405 www.gsa.gov
General Services Administration (GSA)
ITSS ID# XXXXXXXXX
1.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
GSA’s Office of Administrative Services is the primary tenant representative for GSA’s internal workspace, and since 2013 GSA’s 1800 F St NW headquarters building has been a showcase where other federal agencies may see best-practices for improving office space, improve space utilization rates, foster collaboration, and increase efficiency.
In 2016, GSA will share its headquarters with another government entity. Current GSA staff at 1800F will consolidate by vacating all floors of one wing in the building. This temporary internal consolidation will further showcase the flexibility of GSA’s modern, mobile workplace, and presents opportunities to add furnishings within GSA space for focused, concentrative, and even individual work within the open space plan.
GSA intends to establish a task order for furnishing solutions that ameliorate noise and sound transfer, and create semi-private individual work enclosure within the open plan design.
Design, Project management, delivery and installation services shall be included in the Contract. Procurement process will include a structured Technical Evaluation for each vendor.
The goal, with GSA Central Office as a showcase of best-practices, is to achieve a diversity in furniture styles with acoustic property solutions under this contract.
WORK BOOTH INDIVIDUAL ENCLOSURE -- Award to up to two vendors is anticipated.
Background:
GSA’s Headquarters building at 1800 F St NW was partially renovated and fully refurnished in 2012 and 2013. Since re-occupying the building, GSA gives tours on a weekly basis to other Federal agencies interested in seeing how GSA managed tremendous efficiency gains in space use.
Post-occupancy surveys have indicated needs for additional meeting spaces, for introduction of distraction-free design solutions, and for acoustically-based changes in the existing design. During occupancy by the other government entity, GSA employees using Central Office facilities will encounter reduced resources such as fewer conference and meeting rooms, and fewer workstations to accommodate the same number of staff.
To offset these new challenges, GSA seeks innovative and creative solutions from the commercial furnishings industry to provide individual work enclosure, and acoustic enclosure, for open work space applications.
GSA aims to provide manufacturers with a unique opportunity to utilize highly visible Federal space as a showcase environment, and to provide building stakeholders with additional resources for trial during the consolidation project.

01 -- WORK BOOTH INDIVIDUAL ENCLOSURE for OPEN SPACE

· Should provide enclosure for seated -- visual -- privacy
· Should be freestanding, rather than systems panel-based
· Materials must provide sound-absorptive construction and finishes on at least a majority of the product’s exposed surface areas
· Should offer a work surface with eased or radius edges, in a durable plastic laminate finish or solid surface material; with option to substitute a user-adjustable-height work surface, by others
· Should offer integrated task lighting; or, ensure design-engineering is such that it will accommodate add-on task light solutions
· Should offer integrated power and data port options (e.g. for laptop outlet, and USB charger) along with standard household outlets and plug-in power cord (not hard-wired) with minimum 8’ cord length; or, must be design-engineered to readily allow for user installation of power and data cords, without cutting or use of tools, after delivery
