About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to a federal solicitation for the disassembly, transport, and reassembly of a B-52H aircraft. The solicitation seeks a contractor to remove a B-52H aircraft designated as tail number 61-0009 from long-term storage at the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group facility in Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. The contractor will disassemble the aircraft, transport the fuselage and left wing to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for reassembly and use as a static mockup. The right wing and horizontal stabilizer will be transported either to Wichita, Kansas or back to the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group facility in Tucson, Arizona. The questions and answers provide additional details on the current state of the aircraft in storage and requirements for its removal from the military facility.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Question: We assume if it has been moved from the AMARG property that it has already some partial disassembly?

Answer: The aircraft is still at the AMARG; the assumption is incorrect.

Question: If so what components and hardware i.e. Engines, Flight Controls, Antennae, Avionics, Wings etc. have been already removed?

Answer: All engines and engine struts have been removed, Vertical stabilizer is removed, external tanks are removed.

Question: We would like to request B-52H Technical guidance and documentation for further planning processes.

Answer: Not sure if this is anything I can provide they would need to be more specific.

Question: local facilities do not have the capability to house this aircraft; are there possible alternative options?

Answer: The aircraft has to be removed from the AMARG whole. AMARG will not allow a contractor to take apart the aircraft on the USAF property. I am not aware of any alternative options.
