NOTICE

1.3 General Safety Information (Continued)

- Motors, Electrical Equipment and Controls can cause electrical arcs that will ignite a flammable gas or vapor.

- Never operate or repair in or near a flammable gas or vapor.

- Never store flammable liquids or gases in the vicinity of the system.

- For up to date fire protection information please consult the National Fire Protection Association at www.nfpa.org.

Use a backup wrench when adjusting any water piping on the tank or pumping unit

Moving the piping without the use of a backup wrench will turn the suction elbow inside of the tank out of position.

Section 1 - Safety & Warnings

NOTICE

1.4 Narrow Water Tank Safety Information

- Fill tank with water and hold for at least 5 hours PRIOR to use to identify leakage through unsecured fittings, shipping damage or manufacturing defects. The tank manufacturer's warranty is void unless upon installation of the tank, the tank is water pre-tested as a final test of suitability.

- DO NOT use for vacuum or pressure applications. Tank must be properly vented.

- Continuous operating temperatures above 140°F (60°C) are NOT RECOMMENDED. Consult factory for operating temperature above 100°F (38°C).

- Protect tanks from impact (especially sharp blows).

- Installation sites for tank and pump systems should be on a solid, stable and compacted pad no smaller than 4' x 8'.

RECOMMENDED. Tank should not be used for anything other than water. WATER ONLY IN TANK

- Use expansion joints or other flexible connection methods at all tank fittings to prevent damage from differential expan-sion and contraction of piping and tank. The use of rigid piping or the failure to provide for the expansion of the tank will void all warranties.

- Observe all local, state and federal codes.

- Ensure tank is clean from debris before filling tank with water.

Section 2 - System Description

This unit is a pump/tank is packaged and specifically designed for FEMA Tank and Pump Systems.

Section 3 - Installation Instructions

3.1 Initial Inspection

When the tank and pump system is received, they should be immediately inspected for damage. If the equipment has been damaged in shipment or shortages are noticed, immediately notify FEMA immediately. If hidden damage to the residential pump system is suspected, it is recommended that the system be filled with water as a leak check prior to installation.

3.2 Moving Tank and Pump System:

A forklift is requMoving the tank and pump enclosure must be performed by a forklift only.ired to move the tank and pump system.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD THE PIPING BE USED IN LIFTING OR

MOVING THE SYSTEMS.

THE SYSTEM MUST BE INSTALLED ON A LEVEL.

CAUTION

CAUTION

Section 4 - Air Bleeding the System If Motor Runs but has no Flow When first filling up the system, ensure that all of the air is bled out of the pump and piping. The pump is supplied with a hex bolt on the housing (see below) that allows the pump casing to be vented. Loosen the hex bolt to allow air to escape.

Once the pump casing is filled with water, tighten the hex bolt. If the pump does not have a hex bolt, crack the union or flange on the pump discharge pipe.

Installation of Tank and Pump Enclosure GSH 201510.2

1. Site Preparation

The tank and pump enclosure site must be prepared in accordance with state and local building codes.

1. To move or relocate the TPS a Forklift is required.

2. The tank and pump enclosure must be placed on level surface no less than (4 feet by 8 feet) created by using compacted gravel or a similar substrate. The tank and pump enclosure must be lifted with adequate support, the use of a forklift is required to maintain control of the enclosure and place on the ground without damage.

3. Place enclosure in accordance with FEMA’s instructions (see illustration below).

4. Remove 2-anchor straps from inside the tank and pump system. The anchor straps are located immediately inside the access door on the floor.

Minimum TPS pad site 4’ x 8’

5. Install 1 (one) tie down straps on each side of the MHU. There is 1 (one) BP-10 receiver for each of the 2 (two) anchor straps located on the lower edge-side of the tank and pump enclosure.

6. Anchors must be installed to their full depth and embedded below the frost line and to be at least 12" above the water table at a 45 degree angle.

2. Remove Installation Parts Box

Remove the installation parts box from Tank and Pump Enclosure.

Part are as follows:

Qty 1 – 90 elbow 1 ½ inch Qty 1 – 45 elbow 1 ½ inch Qty 1 - Close 1 ½ inch Qty 1 – Roll pipe tape Qty 1 – Raychem Splice Kit Qty 1 - Enclosure Key Qty 1 - Electrical Circuit Box Key

3. Installation of Insulated Water Supply Line

1. Carefully Remove zip ties

2. Carefully unwind insulated water supply line to prevent damage.

3. Locate riser connection under Manufactured housing unit.

4. Attach fittings using a type of thread seal or plumbers putty to attach and install insulated water supply line to MHU riser. Additional plumbing fittings are located in the installation parts box.

5. Remove the wire that attached the cam lock to the hose. Keep wire, the wire is for storage of the cam lock and keeping the cam lock in ‘closed position’ on the riser. The cam lock is removable to aide in attaching to riser. After attaching to the riser (under MHU) place cam lock in ‘closed’ position. Use the wire to ensure the cam lock stays closed.

4. Installation of the Heat Tape

1. Read Raychem installation guide completely prior to installation. A copy is provided in this packet. Any questions with Raychem products call Raychem technical support.

2. Remove end cap from Heat tape (orange wire) by cutting the heat tape about ¼” from the cap. Throw away cap.

3. Use the Raychem-S (see Raychem installation guide) to attach heat trace (orange wire pictured above) from water supply line to heat trace wire on riser of manufactured housing unit.

5. Installation of Electrical wire

1. Carefully remove zip ties.

2. Carefully unwind electrical wire by rotating wires to ensure no damage.

3. Plug into mechanical interlock located on the rear of the Manufactured housing unit.

System is now operational. If you have any question or concerns contact your supervisor immediately.

Tank and Pump System: Heater The heater is located on the wall to the left of the door.

To Operation

1. Turn on the power supply to heater.

2. Rotate thermostat knob fully clockwise.

3. Allow the room to reach desired temperature, then rotate thermostat knob counter clockwise until the heater de-energizes.

Maintenance and Cleaning of Heater

The heater should be cleaned at least annually to prevent excess build-up of dirt and lint accumulated under normal operating conditions. To clean heater first Disconnect the heater form the main power source. Then remove the grille. Using a vacuum cleaner with soft bush attachment clean the fan blade and element of any accumulated dirt or link. Be careful not to bend the petals of the blade. When the cleaning is finished, re-install the grille and restore power. DO NOT OPERATE THE HEATER WITHOUT THE

GRILLE.

TPS Battery Commission/Decommission Instruction

When power is off and the pump-tank unit is being decommissioned the blue wire between the battery and the terminal marked “Batt +” must be disconnected or the batteries will keep the box powered and will drain.

When the wire is disconnected the metal portion of the electrical connector must be covered with electrical tape as shown below.

When the TPS is put back into service and power is delivered to the pump-tank unit the blue wire on the battery must be connected on the “Batt +” terminal as shown in figure 1.

Remove insulation and install to BATT+ terminal
