Amendment 0002 11/3/2016
Question 1:
My firm conducted a site visit today at the above referenced project and we are interested in bidding on the project. In our discussion with LT. Luke Mayotte, he mentioned that a core cut was done previously. Please advise on how we can get the results of that core cut and whether or not a formal RFI is required.
Answer 1:
Roof cuts and testing were done in 2011 and 2013. Test results are provided as attached. The attached test results contain the raw data that the notes on the drawings are based on. In the 2011 test the flashing tar was found to be asbestos containing. All other samples of roofing material tested negative for asbestos. 2013 test of roofing material tested negative for asbestos flashing - tar was not tested. Per Bid drawing A-100, Demolition General Note 3, "Black mastic on flashing contains asbestos..." Also Bid drawing G-001, Cover Sheet, the project description notes "The existing modified bitumen roof membrane and silver coating do not contain asbestos. However the black tar on the metal counter flashing does contain asbestos and shall be removed and properly disposed of by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor."
