Questions and Answers - Part II Solicitation Number: HSCG85-16-Q-P45247
USCGC SYCAMORE (WLB 209) DRYDOCK REPAIRS FY2016
QUESTION #7: Item 68 Para # 3.32 IVO Shell Plating Repair
1) Can the USCG define how many square inches (or square feet) of clad welding is to be performed to “weld repair corrosion pits”.
2) Can the USCG provide photos of the area requiring weld repairs?
3) Can the USCG provide dimensions for the anticipated shell plate insert? Is the anticipated insert shaped plate?
Contractor submitted the above questions, and received the USCG response on Amendment 02.
On Question #1- USCG still does not designate how many square inches of clad weld should be bid. Response states 10’ of clad welding, clad welding is usually bid by square inches, not linear feet. Should the contractor assume 10 linear feet of seam welding for bid submittal?
On Question #3-USCG still does not designate if the insert is flat, or has shape. Contractor assumes insert to be flat with no interferences.
RESPONSE:
Contractor shall price the clad welding by unit for one square foot and seam welding by unit for 10 liner feet and submit a CFR for findings.
The shape of the shell plate insert is unknown and contractor shall submit a CFR after the inspection.
