SEA OTTER & PIKE - Dry Dock Repairs
QUESTION (1)
Paragraph 3.3.1.4.3, specifies the allowance to add weight to balance propeller cap. The propeller cap is not listed in paragraph 1.2 (GFP) in Work Item 21 or anywhere else in Work Item 21 or 22 that we can see.
Are the propeller caps to be inspected and balanced as part of Work Item 22?
RESPONSE (1)
No “propeller cap”. Please see following attached drawings.
(a) 87-WPB_243_1_1_-_M
(b) 87-WPB_243_1_5_-_M
(c) 87-WPB_243_1_6_-_M
(d) 87-WPB_243_1_7_-_H
QUESTION (2)
Paragraph 3.2.2, specifies inspection requirements and includes; "Examine and record . . . blade tip profiles, leading and trailing edges, contours . . . of the propeller in accordance with ISO 484/2 Class I."
Submit a written CFR.
Comment: Based on ISO 484/2; Paragraph 10; "The leading and trailing edges shall be check by templates, or equivalent devices, to demonstrate their accuracy to the drawing to within the following tolerances of the face and back: - Class I: +/- 0.75 mm"
QUESTION (2A)
Leading and Trailing Edges: Are the leading edge and trailing edge templates / gages available as GFE to complete Work Item 21; Paragraph 3.2.2 inspection?
RESPONSE (2A)
No leading edge and trailing edge templates / gages available as GFE.
QUESTION (2B)
Blade Contours: Inspection of contours is specified in paragraph 3.2.2. Are blade contour gages available as GFE to complete Work Item 21? If not available, is the contractor required to manufacture blade contour templates or would the mathematical inspection in conjunction with the blade pitch inspection as specified in paragraph 10 (Sub paragraph 3) be sufficient provide the blade contour inspection requirements? Attached ISO484/2 Paragraph 10.
RESPONSE (2B)
“…the mathematical inspection is sufficient for the purpose of this work item. ISO 484/2 only offers the template inspection as an alternative to the measurements/mathematical inspection. The templates are not a necessity if the measurements can be done adequately. The contractor is not required to make the templates.”
QUESTION (3)
In preparation of our bid submittal I noticed item 10; Depth Sounder Capastic Fairing, an O option item in both the specification and the index. However in the "Supplies/services & Prices/costs" pages it is identified as a D definite item.
RESPONSE (3)
Work Item 10 Capastic Fairing, Renew is an Option Item. (See Revised Schedule of Supplies & Services)
QUESTION (4)
The "Hull/Main Weatherdeck Material" found in the 87 WPB Principal Characteristics sheet which states "BS-4360, GR 43A Steel" as the hull/weather deck material. If I'm looking at the drawings correctly, dwg's 87 WPB 111-001 and 131-001 both state ABS Grade AH 36 under General Notes.
Is ABS Grade AH 36 correct or is BS-4360, GR 43A Steel correct?
RESPONSE (4)
ABS Grade AH36 is the correct material.
