ANSWERS TO VENDOR QUESTIONS

1. QUESTION: It is calling for the scanning of the vessel’s underwater (u/w) hull and freeboard plating for the presence of metal corrosion and deterioration.

Is it the intention of the USCG to scan the freeboard plating of all the boats regardless of length? For example the Eagle is 327’ long and there are multiple cutters 200+ feet long. Is it required to scan the freeboard of these vessels? If not, can the USCG please specify which vessels require freeboard plating scans?

ANSWER: In most cases side scan services shall be required for both the freeboard and Underwater body of the vessels. One some occasions only the underwater body shall be scanned. This will not be known until the vessels come in for availability and will be specified in the task order that is issued. The Government has revised the Schedule of Services. When submitting a proposal, please use the new Schedule of Services.

2. QUESTION: What is the time or duration requirement to complete the Hull Plating Side Scan for each vessel? The SOW states 3 days after the Side Scan inspection to complete and submit the Side Scan Final Report but I haven’t seen the required time to complete the Side Scan inspection or total time/duration for each vessel. I am expecting that they would vary between the vessel class size such as 2 days for 87ft WPB and 9 days for 270ft WMEC.

ANSWER: The duration for each vessel should be.

270' 9 days

210' 6 days

225' 9 days

175' 6 days

140' 5 days

327' 9 days

65' tender and barge 4 days

75’ tender and barge 4 days

Barges 2 days

87' 2 days

110' 4 days
