Streamline Project # 170119

Dear Chief Lamb:

Streamline Environmental, Inc. (Streamline) has completed lead-based paint (LBP) screening activities at the above-referenced site located in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Streamline completed the following scope of work to accomplish the study objectives:

Lead Based Paint (LBP) Screening

The purpose of the screening was to determine if lead is present in the paints within the entryway to the main building. All LBP screening activities were conducted on January 20, 2015. A total of two (2) paint chip samples were collected using the scraping method outlined in Chapter 7 of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development “Guidelines for the

Evaluation and Control of LBP Hazards in Housing”. The sampling included collection of all paint layers at each location while minimizing the amount of substrate material in the sample.

All samples were sent to EMSL Analytical, Inc., an EPA-recognized National Lead Laboratory

Accreditation Program (NLLAP) laboratory, and analyzed for lead using Method SW 846.

Lead-based paint, as defined in Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations 745, Subpart L, means paint or other surface coating that contains lead equal to or in excess of 1.0 milligrams per square centimeter or more than 0.5% by weight. The complete analytical report is included as

Appendix A. A summary table outlining the sample locations and analytical results is included below.

Conclusion and Recommendations

Results of the laboratory analyses indicate that all paints tested are not classified as LBP. As such, these surfaces may be renovated using using standard renovation methods.

Thank you for the opportunity to assist the US Coast Guard with continued assistance with environmental services. Please do not hesitate to contact me if Streamline can be of any additional service.

Sincerely, Streamline Environmental, Inc.
