QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
QUESTION # 1 - DEFINITE/OPTIONAL ITEM NO. 49, Tanks (MP Fuel Service), Clean, Inspect, Blast and Coat.
The NOTE in para 1.1 indicates certain other paragraphs will be accomplished under the associated “DEFINITE” item titled “Tanks (MP Fuel Service), Clean and Inspect”. There is no such item in the work package. We would assume that the cleaning and gas-freeing of the tanks would be covered in said item as well. Please provide this item
ANSWER: In regards to the submitted question, the clean and inspect work item verbiage was included into Work Item 49. I believe this is meant to be a planning note and not a KTR note and have submitted specification feedback. The note also states that if this is an option item, since this is a definite item the required information was already incorporated QUESTION #2 - Work Item 50 (Tanks (Lube Oil), Clean and Inspect). Paragraphs 3.4-3.6 very specifically tell us to clean the tanks, dispose of tank contents and cleaning fluids and inspect the tank. This verbiage is not included in WI 49. As written, WI 49 only directs us to blast and coat the tanks, and implies that there is a separate item to clean and inspect. There is not such an item for the MP fuel service tanks ANSWER: 3.1.5 Fluid handling. The Contractor shall remove up to a total of 5,000 gallons of diesel fuel.
3.1.5.1 Dispose of removed fluids in accordance with all applicable Federal, state, and local regulations (see 4.1 (Tank content restoration)). NOTE Vessel may come in with less fuel than specified above.
3.1.5.2 Document a complete chain of custody record of the removed tank contents and generated wastes, from the vessel to the point of final destination or delivery.
3.1.5.3 Submit document to the COR upon completion of work.
QUESTION #3- DEFINITE/OPTION ITEM NO. D-001, PARA 3.2, 3.3.2 – HULL PLATING (SIDE SCAN), ULTRASONIC TESTING:
3.2 Work coordination and preparation. The contract shall plan all specified vessel work detailed in this specification package to ensure the side scan survey does not necessitate a work stoppage. The contractor shall abide by the following guidance, to facilitate the ultrasonic survey.
Ensure that all u/w/ body surface preparation and primer coat application tasks are completed within ten days of lifting the vessel.
3.3.2 Coast Guard notification. Accomplish all required tasks with 10 calendar days of the start if the availability.
ANSWER: The specification have been revised to clarify and answer question #3
