About this file

This document is an instructional guide for following contract opportunities on SAM.GOV to receive email alerts. The guide provides step-by-step procedures for users to monitor any federal entity's projects, not limited to Forest Service opportunities. Users must log into SAM, search for the project or solicitation number using the format example (1244552#Q####, 1244552#R####, or 1244552#B####), click the ellipsis button (circle with three vertical dots) on the Contract Opportunity page, and then click the "Follow" option to activate email notifications.

Once a user follows a project, the "Follow" link changes to "Unfollow," allowing users to discontinue notifications using the same process. Users will receive automated emails from SAM.GOV (dontreply@sam.gov) whenever changes occur to followed opportunities, with emails containing a direct "View Details" link to access the project in SAM. The guide recommends periodically checking SPAM and JUNK email folders, as notification emails may be filtered there. Users should not reply to the auto-generated notification emails.
