About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for solicitation HE125425QE023 regarding AP Calculus AB and BC Custom Course Content for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). The document addresses five key questions about the requirements, including a correction to remove erroneous language about AP Computer Science courses from the solicitation.
The Q&A clarifies that DoDEA is requesting two distinct courses (AP Calculus AB and BC), acknowledging content overlap between them. It specifies that while units should connect across the curriculum, references between units should be content-based rather than unit number-based. The document indicates that DoDEA serves approximately 67,000 students, though exact enrollment numbers for these specific courses are not provided. The PWS requirements are confirmed as accurate, with pricing sheet flexibility allowed to manage content overlap during the iterative process with the selected vendor. The courses must align with College Board standards and will be available to all interested students for AP exam preparation.

Attachment #12-Q&A Attachment 10-Questions and Answers HE125425QE023- AP® Calculus AB and BC Custom Course Content
| Question # | Solicitation Reference | Question | Answer |
| 1 | Solicitation Page 30; Instructions, Conditions, & Notices to Offerors or Quoters | "Subjects: Seat Licenses for AP Computer Science Principles and Coding I & II. DoDEA requires commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) seat-based licenses for AP Computer Science Principles and Coding I & II. The course shall be taught by DoDEA teachers. DoDEA also requires 1-2 hours of virtual professional learning on the courseware functionality and instructional materials. DoDEA expects to make one award for a 5-year base period; however, may make multiple awards." | This is an error and has been corrected. Please see the amended Solicitation. |
2 PWS 2 Requirements Typically, AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC each correspond to year-long courses. Can you clarify if DoDEA is requesting two, distinct courses, or is the BC course meant to be a continuation of the AB course? Yes, we are requesting 2 courses and recognize there may be overlap of content.
3 PWS 2.1.11 In regards to adaptability - the PWS mentions that units should not refer to previous or future units in the course to allow teachers to "adapt the sequence of instruction." In a math course, and particularly in calculus, the sequence of instruction is a vital component. As such, it will be difficult to develop standalone units without connection to skills built over previous units. Are you able to provide further insight into how DoDEA would like us to manage this? We recognize the importance of the sequence of instruction, and understand that units should connect across the curriculum. However, these connections should be articulated by content rather than by unit numbers (e.g., avoid mentioning "Unit 1" in Unit 7).
| 4 | PWS 2.1.9; 2.1.10; 2.1.11 | |
| Attch1_PricingSheet | Clarify quantity of units, lessons, and semesters between Pricing Sheet, PWS, and College Board CED. | The information in the PWS is accurate. However, we have provided flexibility on the pricing sheet to manage specific details during the iterative process with the selected vendor, recognizing that there may be content overlap. We have also tried to align the course content expectations with the CEDs. |
5 PWS 1.1.1 Approximately how many DoD students would be taking the online AP Calculus AB course at any given time, and approximately how many would be taking the online AP Calculus BC course at any given time? We are not certain of the exact number of students who would be taking the online AP Calculus AB or AP Calculus BC courses at any given time. DoDEA serves approximately 67,000 students. These courses should be available to any students interested in taking them to adequately prepare them for the AP Exam.
