About this file

This is an addendum containing questions and answers for an unnamed solicitation related to IT infrastructure services. The document addresses four key technical questions regarding mandatory requirements and system specifications. Major points clarified include the removal of Mandatory Requirements #20 and #26 from the solicitation (referenced on pages 13 and 14), and confirmation that their vendor will handle WebSphere Application Server configuration and modifications in upgrading from version 6.1 to WAS 8 or higher.

The technical environment requires communication lines for connecting to both a mainframe and an iSeries server at HQ where SAC400 development will be housed. The document provides clarification on Enterprise Extenders connectivity requirements and addresses questions about disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) requirements, though some specifications remain unclear after the removal of requirement #26. The questions suggest this is an IT infrastructure project involving mainframe integration, server management, and data security components.

Text version

1. In the Mandatory requirements section IV, the #17 Encryption of data at rest was removed, but #20 which requires the same thing was left in. Is #20 still a mandatory requirement?

Mandatory Requirement #20 has been removed (refer to Page 13 of the solicitation documents).

2. You currently use WebSphere Application Server version 6.1. 6.1 is not supported at V7R1 or higher. You will have to use WAS 8 or higher. We supply that as part of our service, but generally takes some application modifications as WAS 6 and 8 are significantly different. Who will be doing that?

Our vendor, will handle configuration and any modifications.

3. You mention the need for Enterprise Extenders for connection to their mainframe. That in itself is not a problem, it is a standard part of the OS. But, most of the time we see companies using this, it is via Comm lines, modems, and phone lines. So, will comm. lines and phone lines be a requirement here?

Yes we will require comm. lines. We will be communicating with the mainframe as well as with the iSeries server at HQ, where the SAC400 development will be housed.

4. Also, in The Mandatory Requirements section #25 and #26 talk about DR and HA, but are somewhat vague for us. #25 says the DR environment needs to be encrypted, but is that just the VPN connection and Backups, or the servers them self? (same issue as #1). #26 requires high availability. Does that mean server replication? Dedicated backup servers or ?? We are uncertain what kind of DR you need and how fast the DR solution provides recovery … 20 minutes, 4 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, etc.?

Mandatory Requirement #26 has been removed (refer to Page 14 of the solicitation documents).
