Performance Work Statement (PWS) Research and Data Analytic Support Services
1.0 INTRODUCTION The Defense Suicide Prevention Office (DSPO) requires research and data analytic support services to executing their mission and supporting the capability of the Department of Defense (DoD) to enhance its suicide prevention efforts. The work requires support for Research oversight support, analysis of quantitative and qualitative suicide data, and report generation.
2.0 BACKGROUND
DSPO was established as a response to the recommendations contained in the DoD Task Force on the Prevention of Suicide by Members of the Armed Forces. DSPO requirements were derived from the 76 recommendations contained in the Task Force Report to include the requirement to create a unified, strategic, and comprehensive DoD plan for research in military suicide prevention, and the standardization of suicide death investigations.
More recently, the FY 2015 National Defense Authorization Act, Section 567, calls for improved consistency in data collection and reporting in DoD suicide prevention efforts for members of the Reserve Component and for military family members. DSPO also recently published the Defense Strategy for Suicide Prevention (DSSP) and the requirements contained in this PWS will assist in meeting the goals and objectives of the DSSP.
