About this file
This document is a white paper template for a federal contract opportunity related to the Family of Tactical Head Born Systems (FTHS) Ground Ballistic Helmet. The FTHS solicitation aims to develop and field a Special Operations Forces (SOF) ballistic helmet system for ground forces. The white paper template outlines the required information to be included, such as an overview of the product, technical specifications, company viability, and rough order of magnitude cost and schedule. The overall objective is to provide ballistic protection, be lightweight, and integrate with typical headborne equipment. The contract opportunity will consist of five phases, including white paper submissions, a request for prototype proposal, weights and measures assessment, user evaluation, and developmental testing/first article. A follow-on production contract may be awarded to a successful prototype project. The solicitation is being issued by the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and has an estimated ceiling of $95 million over a five-year ordering period.
