I. GENERAL NOTES
1. Do not scale drawings. Contractor(s) are to verify site dimensions and conditions prior to work.
2. Construction shall be in accordance with the requirements of the applicable codes including accessibility standards and the requirements of “Architectural Barriers Act.”
3. Contractor(s) shall visit the site and correlate the requirements of the documents with the existing conditions.
4. Drawings are diagrammatic and since existing conditions, including areas above accessible ceilings may affect new work, the contractor shall coordinate and alter new work to properly fit the existing conditions. The work shall be performed at no extra cost. The contractor shall verify all conditions and dimensions at the job site prior to the start of construction. If discrepancies are found, the architect shall be notified for clarification before commencing with the work.
5. Details not shown are similar in character to those shown.
When specific dimensions, details, or design intent cannot be determined, consult the architect before proceeding with the work.
6. Some masonry and lumber dimensions shown on the drawings are nominal dimensions. Contractor(s) shall coordinate actual dimensions with the job conditions. Report all discrepancies to the architect.
7. Existing conditions shown on this drawing are not guaranteed to be complete. The contractor(s) shall field verify all existing conditions, dimensions, and materials required for the contracted work. Report all discrepancies to the architect prior to fabrication and erection.
8. The term ‘patch to match’ or ‘cutting and patching’ denotes that repair work is necessary to construct a floor, base, wainscot, wall or ceiling to match its adjacent surface, texture, material, finish and color of adjacent existing surfaces.
9. If materials suspected of containing hazardous materials are encountered, DO NOT DISTURB; immediately notify the architect and owner.
10. Where existing partitions or services have been removed, or new services penetrate existing surfaces, the openings shall be patched to match the existing surface finish, texture, and sheen.
11. Where new openings occur in structural bearing wall, contractor is responsible for temporary supports and/or shoring as required for installation of lintels.
12. Where existing doorways are to be filled in, contractor is responsible for field verifying wall widths.
13. The General Contractor is responsible for installation of all access doors, access panels and frames, including, but not limited to those specific in the construction documents and furnished by other contractors. All access doors and panel locations to be coordinated and approved by the architect prior to installation. The general contractor is responsible for painting all access panels and access doors. General contractor is responsible for coordinating all paint colors with the architect prior to commencing with the work.
II. FIRE RESISTANCE RATING
1. Fire rating indicated on a wall shall mean the entire length and height of wall to be fire rated.
2. All piping, ducts, cabinets, etc. that penetrate walls shall be installed in a manner that wil preserve the fire resistance rating of that wall.
3. Preserve all fire resistant ratings of existing wall unless otherwise noted.
III. DIMENSIONING
1. Interior partitions are dimensioned to face of gypsum board exclusive of finish material, such as ceramic tile or wood paneling. The contractor shall coordinate finish dimensions with finish schedule when critical to the installation of millwork or equipment.

General Partition Notes:
1. Not all partition groups or types within groups have been utilized - resulting type numbers may not be sequential. Refer to partition schedules for types utilized in this project.
2. For all partition systems that are indicated to extend from floor slab to underside of structure or floor slab above, including all Fire Rated partitions and all partitions indicated to have a Sound Transmission Class (STC), provide assembly at head of partition that will accommodate a minimum deflection of the structure above the partition, but not less than L/360 (where L= the span of the structure) without transferring loads resultant from that deflection to the partition assembly.
3. Provide assembly that will transfer lateral loads applied normal to the face of the partition system into the structure or floor slab above. Where Fire-Rated partitions occur , provide a UL-listed and approved head assembly for that partition that has been tested and determined to provide a Fire Rating equivalent to that of the Fire Rated Partition. Where partitions indicated to have a Sound Transmission Class occurs, provide a head assembly for that partition that has been tested and determined to provide a Sound Transmission Class equivalent to that of the Sound Rated Partition. All head assemblies shall be installed in strict conformance to manufacturers recommendations.
4. All GWB to be type "X" U.N.O.
5. Provide tile backer boards on all walls scheduled to receive wall tile.
6. Provide moisture resistant GWB at all plumbing fixtures, moisture resistant GWB to extend minimum 24" beyond edge of plumbing fixture.
7. All penetrations in rated partitions to be firestopped. See Life Safety Plan for locations of fire and smoke rated partitions.
8. Contractor to patch and repair any existing sprayed-on steel fireproofing that may be disturbed by new construction. See specification 078100.
Comply with requirements indicated on drawing LS-01.
9. All assemblies with sound attenuation insulation are considered acoustical partitions. Provide acoustical sealant at all penetrations. See typical Acoustical Penetration Detail, located sheet A0-00
