12. REMARKS FROM PROJECT ENGINEERS.

A. Traffic into the area must be maintained thus project phasing is important.

B. The electronic card reader will be supplied by a security contractor, who will coordinate with the selected contractor for this Perimeter Security Project. The security contractor is currently ADT – Greater Tennessee POC is Charlie Dye. ADT will be able to answer any pre-bid questions.

C. Specifications for the Gate Operator did not specify a brand, however heavy usage is not predicted.

D. If the power has to be shut off at any time during this project it must be done on the weekends.

13. QUESTIONS

A. Could you provide a name & contact number for Embarq (Utility Company) in regards to relocating overhead phone lines?

Bidders may contact Ms. Marcy Buckles (Embarq) at 423-989-2243 http://www.fbo.gov/

B. Can we use the front lawn area for staging materials & equipment?

An area on the west side of the building adjacent to Cummings Street may be used as a storage/laydown area and must be restored to its original conditions upon the project’s completion.

C. In the specifications section 10019- part 2.7 C, titled “Gate Operators” it mentions both hydraulic & mechanical gate operators.

Can we choose to use either unit based on the duty criteria; heavy-duty, commercial/industrial?

No. The specifications should only call for Hydraulic gate openers. A formal amendment indicating this will follow.

D. Charlie Dye w/ ADT was mentioned in the pre bid meeting as the access control contact. Could you please provide a contact number?

The security contractor is currently ADT – Greater Tennessee. The POC is Charlie Dye. Please contact this ADT office if you have any questions regarding the solicitation requirements.

E. I would like to respectfully request that we are permitted to bid on an alternate manufacturer for the decorative bollard casings that are specified in on this project. In lieu of the materials referenced in the project specifications, I would like to use fiberglass casings. The reasoning behind our request is that lead time on the materials is drastically reduced, the fiberglass casings would not require repainting after installation and maintenance issues are avoided because they do not rust.

This will be acceptable as long as they are visually identical to the drawings within the specification and contract documents.
