KingaPorst: KingaPorst:
The building is one of the region’s most energy intensive buildings: 131,795 BTU/GSF/year.
o One of the reasons for this is the data center function that is housed at the facility. Gathering innovative ideas on how to reduce consumption at the data center would be highly beneficial and welcome, and would have the potential to be replicable to the many other buildings in GSA’s inventory that have the same monumental challenge: high energy intensity due to data center operations. Reference EPA 8/2/07 Report to Congress on Server and Data Center Energy Efficiency, particularly Figure ES-1 which depicts future energy projections pursuant to different actions (report available, upon request).
o Given the building’s consistently high energy intensity, this “fat” building presents a better chance to realize deep energy savings versus “skinnier” buildings in our inventory.
· This building has the largest amount of FY11 BA55 energy-set aside project submissions for our region: 10 projects totaling $1.8 million with aggregate simple payback of 5.3 years. Given the added costs of an ESPC (debt service, M&V, etc), the term would certainly be in the high single digits to low teens; nonetheless, the building seems to have strong payback potential that would interest an Energy Service Contractor (ESCO) and help drive the economics needed to make an ESPC a reality.
| · Unlike other buildings in our inventory, this building is a “blank slate”. It is a long-term hold, with a fairly static capital planning outlook. This would give the evaluators more latitude in being creative, rather than in other buildings with pre-existing constraints or complicating factors. | 5000 WISSAHICKON AVE | PHILADELPHIA, PA | 51,578 | 12,309 | - 0 | 0 | 0 | 63,887 | 449,021 | $ 0.09 | 131 | $1,489,320.00 | ERROR:#REF! | ERROR:#REF! | 449021 | 1489320 | ||||||
