About this file
This is an Insurance Requirements document for the City of Meriden, Connecticut, establishing mandatory coverage standards for contractors and vendors engaged in municipal contracts. The City of Meriden requires all contractors to maintain General Liability coverage of $1,000,000 to $2,000,000, Auto Liability of $1,000,000, and Workers' Compensation at statutory limits. Contractors must name the City of Meriden as an Additional Insured on a primary and non-contributory basis for all policies except Workers' Compensation and include a Waiver of Subrogation on all applicable policies. All insurance carriers must be approved in Connecticut and maintain a minimum AM Best's rating of "A-"VIII. If any policy is issued on a "Claims Made" basis, continuous renewal is required for a minimum of two years from the contract completion date. In the event of policy replacement or retroactive date changes, the expiring policy must be endorsed to extend reporting period coverage for two years post-completion. Contractors must provide 30 days' written notice to the City of Meriden of any policy cancellations, coverage reductions, or alterations. Employers' Liability limits must include minimum coverage of $1,000,000 per accident, $1,000,000 disease per employee, and $1,000,000 disease policy limit. These requirements apply to the City of Meriden's contract B027-16 for Exhaust Fan Replacement at the Public Works Maintenance Facility.
