About this file

This is a specification document for the Garden City Middle School Window Replacement Project, a capital construction project for Garden City Public Schools with French Associates serving as the architect. The project involves the replacement of windows at Garden City Middle School (Project No. 2019-005). The contract award is planned for May 6, 2019, with site demolition beginning June 17, 2019, after the last day of school on June 14, 2019. All project work must be completed by August 11, 2019. Electrical work may commence prior to the end of the school year but only during non-school hours. Contractors are limited to designated construction areas within the contract limits and must provide parking for six administrative vehicles and maintain building access throughout the construction period.

The document establishes operational constraints requiring contractors to maintain the building in weather-tight condition, protect building occupants, and minimize interference with owner operations. Contractors must provide not less than five calendar days' notice before activities affecting owner operations and are prohibited from interrupting utilities, including electrical service, while school is in session. Site access is restricted during school operating hours, and administrative staff will remain in the building with cleaning operations continuing through the summer. The contractor assumes responsibility for repairing any damage caused by construction operations and maintaining all existing exits and walkways. The specification format follows the 50-division CSI/CSC MasterFormat numbering system.
