About this file
This is a prevailing wage determination email correspondence between GCAP Services, Inc. and the City of Santa Monica's Public Landscape Division regarding a Playground Equipment Repair and Maintenance contract. The City of Santa Monica is seeking qualified contractors to provide repair and maintenance services for existing playground equipment and safety surfaces across approximately 17 municipal playground sites, including North Beach Playground, Reed, Virginia Avenue Park, Ozone, and Annenberg parks. The scope of work is limited to repair, replacement, and restoration of existing components and surfaces—not new design or installation. Services include repair and replacement of playground components such as posts, decks, clamps, hardware, and footings, installation of original manufacturer parts to meet safety standards, and repair and replacement of poured-in-place rubber safety surfacing. The contractor must respond to service calls within two weeks and perform work during standard weekday business hours (Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM, excluding holidays and weekends). The estimated frequency is 4 to 6 playgrounds per year requiring repair, with work orders placed on an as-needed basis. The contract term is five years.
The total contract value is $240,000 over the five-year period, funded through local sources. The prevailing wage requirements apply to this contract, as confirmed by Kim Morales, Labor Compliance Analyst at GCAP Services. All work must be coordinated with the City of Santa Monica Public Landscape team, and materials, parts, and repairs must meet or exceed manufacturer requirements and safety standards. Any repairs beyond the agreed scope require prior approval from Public Landscape staff before proceeding. The contractor must be available and capable of scheduling work during standard business hours only, with no weekend, holiday, or after-hours work required.
