About this file
This is a technical specification document for digester gas equipment issued by the City of Santa Fe in New Mexico for the installation of a waste gas burner system at an anaerobic digester facility. The specification details comprehensive requirements for a complete digester gas control system comprising multiple components including manually operated drip traps, foam separators, accumulators, flame arresters, pressure relief-flame trap assemblies, a waste gas burner, dual combination pressure/vacuum relief valves with flame arrestors, back pressure check valves, manometers, flame checks, and a cover position indicator. The contractor must source all equipment from one of two acceptable manufacturers—Varec or Groth—with no alternate manufacturers permitted. The waste gas burner specification (TAG B-001) requires a 6-inch inlet with maximum gas flow capacity of 30,000 standard cubic feet per hour, incorporating a ring-type pilot with flame curtain configuration, electric pilot igniter operable on 120V/1PH/60Hz power, optical flame sensor, and automatic flame restriking controls.
The specification establishes detailed fabrication and material requirements for each component, including pressure ratings, dimensions, construction materials, and operational parameters. All major equipment connections must meet ASME B16.1 Class 125 flanged end standards, with materials specified as cast aluminum housings with stainless steel trim and moving parts. The installation requirements include pipe insulation of minimum 2 inches thickness with aluminum jacket for all sludge and gas piping exposed to ambient conditions below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, in accordance with Specification Section 40 42 00. Submittals must include shop drawings with schematic diagrams showing major components and pressure settings by assigned tag numbers, manufacturer technical data acknowledging compliance with referenced standards, installation instructions, and calibration constants. The contractor shall provide operation and maintenance data documentation and instruct City personnel on equipment operation and maintenance per Section 01 75 00 requirements.
